School Safety
Our administration and staff regard safety as a top priority. We annually review and revise our school safety, behavior, and emergency plans. We collaborate as a staff and refine our school’s plan until all details are worked out in the best interest of student safety. Brisas is also a gated campus with badge access for school personnel. Our facility has an Integrated Security System, which includes intrusion alarm detection at all exterior doors, access control with smart-cards, and video surveillance. Parents must sign-in and wear an ID badge while on campus. We conduct monthly emergency drills; each teacher is equipped with a backpack of emergency supplies. There is also an off-campus evacuation plan in place with a neighboring school. Last but not least, we use a systemic approach to proactive, school-wide behavior based on a Response to Intervention (RTI) model called Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Through PBIS, we are able to apply evidence-based strategies to increase achievement, improve safety, decrease problem behavior, and build on our existing positive school culture, which supports our Vision, to nurture students in a culture of PEACE.
